Beef Stroganoff
March 2015

400 g (14 oz) rump steak cut into strips, approx 50 mm x 6 mm (2 x )

2 tbs olive oil

Knob of butter (approx 2tbs)

6 shallots (quartered lengthwise)

150 g button mushrooms

2 cloves garlic (finely chopped)

2 tsp mushroom magic (dried mushrooms ground to a powder in a coffee grinder)

300ml soured cream

Salt and ground black pepper

1 handful of flat leaf parsley, (chopped)

Fry the steak in one tablespoon of olive oil and the butter until it is browned. Remove the steak from the pan and set to one side.

Add a second tablespoon of olive oil to the pan and fry the shallots, garlic, mushrooms and mushroom magic until the mushrooms and shallots begin to brown.

Put the meat back into the pan and cook for a little while longer, and then add the soured cream.

Bring the mixture to a low simmer and season to taste with salt and black pepper. Serve immediately with a garnish of flat leaf parsley. The recipe serves two people.

A cursory look on the internet will inform you that there are no rules as to what should accompany beef stroganoff. Some serve it with pasta or rice and some with seasonal vegetables. Whatever your choice, this makes a delicious and luxurious dinner for two. Perfect for that special occasion!

Building the Base
March 2015
Work on the Caravan was due to move on significantly over the Christmas break. Unfortunately, the tragedy of my beloved mum-in-law's illness and subsequent passing, prevented any progress being made.

I have spent the last couple of weekends trying to get things moving again, and this month, I can announce that the caravan floor has been mounted on the chassis.

As you can see, the base still needs its foam core and top skin fitting, but I expect this to be complete by Easter, so that I can use the holiday period to start work on the superstructure. I was originally hoping to have the whole shebang complete for the May bank holiday. My new target is to have it ready for the 2015 Warwick Folk Festival in July. Badobadop's Mathematics Challenge
Here is a little challenge for the more mathematically minded. It isn't difficult to find a solution by trial and error, but Badobadop wants an analytical solution rather than a pure stab in the dark.
Solve the Equation

A solution will be posted next month. In the meantime, I would be interested to know how you all approach the problem, so contact me and let me know.
