A valuable source of Omega 3 fats and calcium, eggs and dairy are very important; especially for young developing bones.

To all intents and purposes, the calories per gram of liquid dairy products are the same as the calories per millilitre.

Most full fat cheeses such as Cheddar, Cheshire, Double Gloucester, Parmesan, Edam and cream cheese all have a similar calorific value. If you assume 4.1 calories per gram, you won’t be far adrift.

Other cheeses and low fat alternatives to dairy products are so numerous and variable, it is necessary to read the nutrition label for an accurate figure.
